Creativity workshop for ESP Staff led by Mary Scholl described as reflective, enlightening and fun by attendees
Our kickoff workshop on March 21 was a great way to start the year. Mary Scholl, a real professional in our field, provided a comfortable and energizing environment for reflection on creativity and teambuilding. As one of our team reported, “I will never look at pigs the same way again.”
Although we all felt this was a valuable investment of time and energy, we were left with the desire to explore practical applications of these experiments in creativity to our specific teaching and translating challenges within a business setting. The following areas were reported as priorities for future workshops:
Technical skills
- CAT tools and hands on experience with interactive technologies
- Practical use of innovative technologies in the classroom
- Company cultures: Awareness of differences and impact
- Increasing student input and engagement
- Time-effective materials development
- Innovations and research in teaching and assessment
- Translating tips and techniques
- Dealing with specific translating challenges

Hi everyone. A special thanks to Bev for all her innovations on our blog and website. And thanks too for gently prodding those of us who are tech challenged and need our hand held through the process. That's me!
Commenting on formats. I like the website colors, buttons and smiley faces but not always sure what I'm supposed to do with them. Blog is more straightforward but perhaps not as fun to explore. Guess it depends on how much time you have. I like the fact that blog invites you to website post as well.
Thanks, Bonnie! This helps us think about where we would feel most comfortable posting and exchanging ideas - anyone else? forums versus blogs?
It seems that the blog is easier to figure out, at least for me. And I didn't know you could get to it from the website. What do you know?
Thanks, Sherry! I also noticed that you asked a question in the forums under "getting tipsy." I hope someone will be able to help you out.
Anyone else: How do you feel about reading and commenting in the forums versus the blog? Advantages versus disadvantages?
The workshop was great fun and very informative. I would love to continue in that vein.
I think both ways of posting work. I have posted on both for both feeling tipsy and WS!!! Getting a bit dizzy with both options...
