General Topic Discussion for Students
These were name-placers Xavier put in for us to get things set up! They need some work!
What's posted is "currency symbols" which is really a "useful link" not a forum. The forum posted there is because there were problems accessing it!

Followed by at least 3 subsections- each with a sample of something real from a class - just put something down here to get us going. I have no dog in this hunt!

I think students would like a conversation corner with profiles (name, company, position) of people interested in chatting if this is possible. This could be linked to hot topics to encourage their participation there. Another suggestion for Hot Topiocs: The Economic Crisis: How is Costa Rica coping? I would think Sherry/Bev could post a link for reading and their students could really add value and get the ball rolling with comments. Maybe a rating scale, 1-5 and students could justify their rating? Focus could be goverment, companies, individuals. Advice from the economists.
Just thought of another idea that would be fun to explore. Why not have an ESP alumni board where we could post (with their consent) information of who some of our "distinguished" alumni are and what they are doing now-even better with pictures
Examples: Rocio Aguilar, past Banex student is now the Contralor de la República
Gerardo Corrales, now General Manager of BAC and voted "Empresario del año" in 200?
All right, I'm going to throw this out there even though some might clench their teeth at the thought of another online community! Many professionals use their LinkedIn network to connect and to share updates with other professionals, usually in their field. We might capture a larger audience if the "alumni" group were part of an ESP LinkedIn group.
Lots of good ideas...how can we get this going? I think we could meet to hash things out and make an action plan of sorts?
